its 12th anniversary. Attracting a sophisticated buying
public and a talented group of national artists and fine
craftsmen, the festival has grown from 49 to 180 exhibiting
artists. Moret than 55,000 visitors attended in 2007.
The purpose of the event is three-fold:
to expand and enhance St. Tammany's reputation as an arts-oriented
community and
mecca for artists and art lovers; to add to the many other
attractions and events that make St. Tammany a wonderful
tourist destination; and, to support art education for St.
Tammany Parish school children.
To further children's art education, the
festival hosts a children's art competition that is displayed
during the Festival.
The Children's Discovery Area offers hands-on activities,
and the Arts Alive! program provides live demonstrations
by exhibiting artists.
The Covington Three Rivers Art Festival is promoted through
an extensive media campaign that targets sophisticated, knowledgeable
buyers in the Greater New Orleans area, Southern Louisiana
and the Gulf Coast. The total value of publicity and advertising
in 2007 was valued at more than $65,000.
The Covington Three Rivers Art Festival is a non-profit,
501(c)(3) organization that is run by a seven-member volunteer
board and part-time coordinator, supplemented by more than
100 additional volunteer committee members and workers. Funding
is generated by event sponsorships, donations, grants and
exhibitor booth fees.
