Calling all student artists!
Each year, the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival holds a Student Art Contest open to all St. Tammany Parish students (public, private, parochial, and home schools), in grades K-12. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third places and honorable mention in each grade. Best of Show ribbons and a $50 cash prize will be awarded in four levels. The American Society of Italian Heritage will present a Michelangelo Award plaque and ribbon in each of the four levels. Names of all winners will be announced during Sunday afternoon of the festival.
Best of Show: Ribbon and $50 CASH in four levels (Elementary, Middle, Junior High & High School).
First, Second, Third Place and Honorable Mention: Ribbons in each medium (2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional) in each grade.
Michelangelo Award: Ribbon and Plaque presented by American Society of Italian Heritage to one “Michelangelo” student award winner in each of the four levels listed above.
Eligibility: All St. Tammany Parish students in K-12 ~ public, private, parochial or home schools ~
Entries: ONLY ONE entry per student in either 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional category. Artwork must be the ORIGINAL work of the student entrant.
Selection Criteria: Two of the major factors in selection of winning artwork are originality and creativity in the artwork submitted.
Juried: Because of space constraints, student artwork will be juried.In addition to winning artwork, a minimum of several hundred pieces of selected student art will be displayed, as space permits.
Media:Any media of 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional artwork. NO PHOTOGRAPHY.
Requirements:NO GLASS OR FRAMES ALLOWED ON ANY ARTWORK.All 2-Dimensional work on paper must be matted and labeled. Pastels and charcoals must be sprayed to avoid smearing. Stretched canvases must be ready to hang with screw eyes and wire only (no saw tooth hangers). Art may be hung with pushpins through the matting. Entrants may submit 2-D art with additional border around mat, but overall size must not exceed maximum size limit of 18 x 24 inches.Each 3-Dimensional work must be able to stand for display, or a tabletop stand or easel must accompany artwork.Download Awards & Criteria Sheet below for full criteria and additional information.
A festival label is required on all artwork submitted: — Only ONE label is required on each piece of artwork, and the label is to be firmly attached to the FRONT of 2-dimensional artwork, and attached to 3-dimensional artwork with a string or tag hanging from the artwork. The label will be covered during judging and the covering will be removed after the judges have selected winning artwork. Download festival artwork label below.

Reasonable care will be exercised to ensure safety and security of artwork. By submitting an entry, entrants agree to hold harmless festival officials and/or volunteers for any damage to or loss of artwork.

Festival assumes no responsibility for artwork not picked up at the scheduled pick-up time from 3pm-5pm on Sunday.If teachers or parents are unable to pickup artwork on Sunday afternoon, arrangements must be made for someone else to pickup the artwork.
